API & integrations
Create a key in your dashboard (Pro or Max plan) and plug the gremlin in anywhere.
Base URL
https://api.gremlingpt.com/v1
Model
gremlin-gpt
Formats
OpenAI · Anthropic
Context: 1M tokens on every plan. Long agent sessions are fine; set your client timeout to at least 300 seconds for very long answers.
1. Put your key in an environment variable
Every guide below reads it from GREMLIN_API_KEY, so the key never ends up in config files.
export GREMLIN_API_KEY="sk-...your key..."Instructions for agents in one plain-text page: https://gremlingpt.com/llms.txt
Agents & terminal
Claude Code
Claude Code speaks the Anthropic format, and so does the gremlin (/v1/messages). Set these variables in your shell (or ~/.zshrc) and run claude.
export ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL="https://api.gremlingpt.com"
export ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN="$GREMLIN_API_KEY"
export ANTHROPIC_MODEL="gremlin-gpt"
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_OPUS_MODEL="gremlin-gpt"
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_SONNET_MODEL="gremlin-gpt"
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_HAIKU_MODEL="gremlin-gpt"
export CLAUDE_CODE_SUBAGENT_MODEL="gremlin-gpt"
export API_TIMEOUT_MS=600000
export CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_NONESSENTIAL_TRAFFIC=1
claudeNote: The gremlin's context is 1M tokens — five times Claude Code's usual 200K — so long sessions are fine. Your plan's usage windows still apply.
Let your agent set itself up
Paste this into the agent — it reads our instructions and configures itself:
Connect Claude Code to GremlinGPT. Read https://gremlingpt.com/llms.txt and follow the "Claude Code" section exactly. Take my API key from the GREMLIN_API_KEY environment variable — never print it, and never write it into a file inside a git repository. When done, send one test message and tell me whether it worked.Hermes Agent
Hermes has a built-in "Custom endpoint" provider. Put this in ~/.hermes/config.yaml, or set the same values through the menu.
- 1Run: hermes model
- 2Choose "Custom endpoint (self-hosted / VLLM / etc.)".
- 3Base URL: https://api.gremlingpt.com/v1
- 4Model: gremlin-gpt, API key: your key (or key_env: GREMLIN_API_KEY).
